STEELMAX is a comprehensive set of design, quality & manufacturing standards, that while compliant to all Australian & International Standards, sets an exceptionally high-quality benchmark for the supply of steel poles into the Australian market.
WHY RELEASE STEELMAX?
The Australian market demands a very high level of quality & service in all its products. Our clients have long argued that there are often gaps in the levels of quality & performance of both locally produced & imported steel pole product whilst deemed conforming to current Australian Standards. Issues ranging from inconsistent steel selection / inconsistent welding quality / inconsistent galvanising finish / dangerous sharp edges during handling & install / poor DIFOT / lack of overall traceability & accountability.
As a company we have been working strategically with our design engineers, manufacturers & raw material suppliers to address the above concerns & offer the best we can in steel poles. The result is STEELMAX.
HOW IS STEELMAX DIFFERENT?
Better Design: Whilst conforming to all relevant Australian Standards – STEELMAX Utilises higher grades of steel. This allows STEELMAX designs to be optimised, creating lower taper rates, lighter poles & lower foundation loads, resulting in real-time savings in installation of poles & footings.
Stronger Steel: All STEELMAX steel meets the requirements of AS1594/AS3678 – yet is produced in a higher strength (min 350mpa) low silicon content (<0.04%) composition for better performance over the more common 250mpa grades of steel.
Better Quality: All STEELMAX poles meet the welding requirements of AS1554.1:2004 Additionally, all manufacturing sites of STEELMAX are audited & certified to ISO 9001:2008
STEELMAX is also audited & certified to ISO:3834:2005 which is a total factory control system that encourages a proactive process to managing & controlling welding product quality on a factory or site. For any company to obtain certification, they are required to be rigorously audited, tested and continuously improving. As the audit for this standard requires highly qualified auditors, manufacturers that are not invested into the future generally walk away from the process and focus on manufacturing to a price point rather the developing better practices and continuously improving.
Better Finish: Better Galvanised finish. All STEELMAX Poles meet the requirements of AS4680. However, the use of higher grade (min 350mpa), low silicon (<0.04%) steel typically results in a better adherence, higher quality & more consistent galvanised finish. Specifically, it provides excellent resistance to mottling, sporadic dulling, mechanical damage & excellent corrosion protection. The finish is smoother & has less sharp dags when handling/cabling & installing the poles.
Complete Traceability: All STEELMAX projects are fully documented – with handover pack on completion including:

◦ Steel Mill certificates.
◦ Test Results – All STEELMAX steel will be verified via independent test laboratories to match back to the original steel mill certificate.
◦ Site Certified – All STEELMAX projects are site certified.
◦ Warranty – All STEELMAX projects offer a standard 7 year warranty.

Where aesthetics or the smoothness of the finish is important steel selection is fundamental. The grade, thickness and composition all play part in the manufacturing, installation and performance of each pole.
